Major fire postpones Southampton FC match
Southampton FC’s scheduled match against Manchester United has been postponed due to a major fire that broke out at St. Mary’s Stadium earlier this morning.
The fire, which is believed to have started in the East Stand of the stadium, quickly spread and caused significant damage to the building. The local fire department was called to the scene and worked tirelessly to bring the blaze under control.
Thankfully, there have been no reported injuries as a result of the fire. However, the extent of the damage means that the stadium is currently unsafe for spectators and players alike.
Officials from the Premier League have confirmed that the match will be rescheduled for a later date, with further details to be announced in due course.
Both Southampton FC and Manchester United have expressed their disappointment at the postponement, but understand that the safety of all involved is of the utmost importance.
