Over 600 Google Workers Urge the Company to Cut Ties With Israeli Tech Conference

Recently, over 600 Google employees have signed a petition urging the tech giant to cut ties with an upcoming Israeli tech conference, citing concerns about human rights violations in the region.

The conference, known as the “Israel Government Summit,” is scheduled to take place in Tel Aviv later this year. Many employees at Google feel that the company’s support of the event would be seen as endorsing the actions of the Israeli government, particularly in regards to their treatment of Palestinians.

In their petition, the employees argue that Google should not be providing a platform or support for an event that they believe goes against the company’s values of inclusivity and diversity. They emphasize the need for Google to take a stand on human rights issues and not align itself with organizations or governments that violate those principles.

This is not the first time Google has faced criticism for its involvement in controversial events or partnerships. In the past, the company has come under fire for its work with government agencies accused of human rights abuses and for its handling of sensitive political issues.

As of now, Google has not publicly responded to the petition, but the employees are hopeful that their voices will be heard and that the company will reconsider its support for the Israeli tech conference.

It remains to be seen whether Google will heed the calls of its employees and cut ties with the conference, but this petition is just one example of tech workers using their collective voice to push their companies to act in accordance with their values.
